Waveguides are a special form of transmission line used for microwave applications. They are metallic tubes made often of high quality material (copper, brass - partially silvered or gold plated).

A waveguide may have rectangular, circular or elliptical cross section. The rectangular waveguide is most commonly used for relatively short connections.  Waveguide has a number of advantages over coax, microstrip and stripline. It is completely shielded , it can transmit extremely high peak powers and it has very low loss at microwave frequencies. The main advantage is that waveguides support propagation with lower loss. The electric and magnetic fields, which are used for the transport of energy, are equal to zero in metal surfaces. Therefore, these fields are confined to the space within the waveguides walls.

Waveguide Attenuators: A waveguide attenuator is a passive RF device specifically designed to reduce the power of a signal without affecting or reducing the waveform of the signal.  Fixed waveguide attenuators have a fixed level of attenuation - any signal input in to the system will be attenuated by the waveguide.  HASCO offers a series of rectangular waveguide attenuators covering the waveguide sizes WR-10, WR-12 and WR-15 and fixed attenuation values of 3 dB, 6 dB, 10 dB, 20 dB and 30 dB

Waveguide Terminations:  A waveguide termination is a passive RF device specifically designed to prevent RF signals from reflecting back from open-ended or unused waveguide ports. Waveguide terminations dissipate RF energy by producing heat energy. HASCO offers a series of rectangular waveguide terminations covering the waveguide sizes WR-10, WR-12 and WR-15.

Waveguide Sections HASCO currently offers a series of rectangular millimeter waveguide sections in standard and custom lengths covering the waveguide sizes WR-10, WR-12, WR-15, with WR-19, WR-22 and WR-28 coming soon.
